Craig Finley is the founder and Managing Principal
of Finley Engineering Group. With over two decades of experience
and numerous high-profile projects in his portfolio, Craig is
among the acknowledged leaders in the bridge engineering and
construction industry. He has been honored for his service to
the industry with Leadership Awards from the American Segmental
Bridge Institute (ASBI) in 1995 and 2004; he is the only two-time
recipient. Craig was also listed among ENR’s Newsmakers
of 1995 for his contribution to the innovative construction
techniques used for the Presumpscot Falls River Bridge near
Falmouth, Maine, the first cast-in-place, cable-stayed bridge
built in North America.
Craig’s work includes all bridge types and materials,
and he has participated on some of the most notable bridge projects
of the last 20 years. This includes the Sunshine Skyway Bridge,
the Woodrow Wilson Bridge replacement, the Natchez Trace in
Tennessee, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge replacement, the Seabreeze
Bridge, and the Sidney Lanier Bridge replacement project.
Prior to founding Finley Engineering Group, Craig was Vice President
in charge of the Bridge and Tunnel Division of Parsons Corp.,
one of the world’s largest engineering and construction
firms. He joined Parsons after it acquired Finley McNary Engineers,
the bridge engineering and consulting firm Craig co-founded
in 1989.
Craig has served in a leadership role in several of the professional
organizations to which he belongs, including the American Segmental
Bridge Institute Executive Committee (Past President), the Post-Tensioning
Institute (Member of Cable-Stayed Bridge Committee), the Prestress
Concrete Institute, International Association of Bridge and
Structural Engineering, National Society of Professional Engineers,
Florida Engineering Society, and the National Steel Bridge Alliance.
Craig is a registered professional engineer in 32 states. He
holds his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the
University of Kansas, he completed graduate studies in Business
Administration at the University of Missouri, and graduated
from the Executive Program at the University of Michigan’s
Business School.
